Missionary Housing Construction Project

Project Description
The original KCAM studios were built in 1963 and were in use until a new studio was built in 2003, less than one mile from its original location.  Plans are to repurpose the original studio building into housing for station volunteers. There is minimal housing available for rent in this rural community.

The KCAM housing project was structured in two phases.

Phase 1 Began with the building of a basement foundation on which the former radio studio building was placed. The lower level was subdivided into two apartments with shared kitchen, living room and laundry facilities totaling 1,320 square feet. The upper level was renovated into living space with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living room and laundry room.  The ground work and septic labor were donated by local contractors, and all renovation labor was also by volunteers.  Phase 1 was completed in early 2022.

Phase 2 included purchasing one house and building another for missionary families who will serve at KCAM at an estimated total cost of $350,000.
